At UNC, efforts focus on all aspects of sustainability, from energy and water conservation to recycling and xeric gardening. Beyond that, our sustainability approach includes partnerships and education.
Funding for an environmental awareness and action student club, The Student LEAF, was proposed in 2012 by students in the university's Environmental and Sustainability Studies program as a way to empower students in helping move the campus community toward a more sustainable culture. UNC is also home to four Colorado Tree Coalition state-champion trees.
This program awards national recognition to college campuses promoting healthy urban forest management and engaging the campus community in environmental stewardship.
